Abstract

The Holy Shrine of Imam al-Red a (A.S.) has always been the focus of attention by the Muslims and Shi`as of the world over. Therefore, the holy premisis (ama kin-i mutibarrika) and the way to manage them have been of much interest to different ruling bodies since long and have been established in proportion to the requirements and opportunities. Upon formalization of Shi'ism in the Safavid period, widespread developments took place in the administrative establishments of Astan Quds Razavi. While introducing the early ``articles of association'' related to the AQR's chief ``attendant guards'' (sar kishiks) , the writer has made a brief review of the establishments of the holy premises.
