In this period, Da r a-'llm of Cairo, which was established by al-H akim Bi Amr Allah for training of t he Isma' il i mission arie s and de ve lopme nt of ration al and p ractical knowledge, enjoys a special status in this cultural-scientific movement. Upon stating the reasons for the formation and activities of Da r a-'llm, the article goes on to deal with a description of the library, the particulars of scientific-educational center, and the way the expenses are provided for. The relation between Da r a-'llm and Jami' al-Azhar is also surveyed.
