The sanctification of the caliphate claimants is one of the influential movements in the history of Islam, playing a significant role in shaping political and religious ideologies in the early centuries. This movement, especially during the Umayyad and Abbasid caliphates, was pursued to establish the political and religious legitimacy of the first caliphs and to strengthen their position against opponents and political rivals. Analyzing and examining this movement requires identifying its key elements and main factors. One of the key aspects of this movement is the investigation of the executive strategies adopted to the caliphate claimants’ Sanctification. One strategy is the distortion of the tradition of the Prophet, which specifically aims at creating intentional changes in the image of the Prophet's personality, actions, and thoughts. These distortions were carried out to provide a favorable image of the caliphate claimants to the Islamic community, thus contributing to the consolidation of their governmental and religious legitimacy. Furthermore, these changes had profound impacts on the religious discourse of Muslims, which its consequences evident in the legal, theological, and political disputes among Muslims up to the present day.
