Family Management in the Qu’ān

Abstract
The Holy Qur’ān has important instructive material in verses 34 and 35 of Sūrat al-Nisā about family management, relationship of spouses, and their duties and the duties of their near of kin. In the above-mentioned verses, interpretation has joined with jurisprudence and theology and created numerous discourses.
First, God has introduced management as the man’s commitment and stated two reasons for it; then, He has pointed out two characteristics of decent wives and finally stated the way to deal with the refractory and indecent women in three phases of admonition, falling out with, and punishment.
Ḍarb (beating [lightly]) is a topic that has caused the protest of the opponents and created misconception for the lowly-informed individuals.
Giving an accurate explanation of this blessed verse, this article studies the above-mentioned topic in terms of the peripheries and margins of its decree, which indicates the legal justice and a means of preventing disappointment and divorce, and mentions the affection and kindness that one has to have toward his wife.
