Historical information plays a major role in the accurate understaning of traditions (ahadith). Paying no attention to the place where a hadth had been uttered causes misconceptions about that hadth and most often may lead the researchers to lengthy explanations, particulary as hadth fabrication in the early centuries of Islam set the ground for errors to arise. In this paper the writer brings up some examples to demonstrate what role historical awareness may play in proper understanding of ahadith.
