An Examination of Human Identity from the Viewpoint of Islamic Psychology

Author

Abstract

From the Islamic viewpoint, the formation of human identity originates from the authority of natural intellect over lust. Having this in mind, the writer has taken a scientific look at the issue and, while giving substantial reasons for the realism of Islamic psychology, has drawn the conclusion that the study of human identity brings on further cognition of the carnal self (nafs) and sensualization of the factor of life in every individual, which would enable the individual to notice the factor of life in his daily activities and thus intentionally give them a Divine color.
