Muslim scholars' interest in the application of mathematics, especially numbers, since the past is an issue that the writer of the present article has dealt with while introducing Mullā Fath Allāh Qazwīnī's Arba‘īn, with the consideration of the historical course of development of mathematics among the Muslim scholars. Mullā Fath Allāh has composed his book in the style of Muntakhab al-Dīn; namely, he has related forty traditions from forty sources on the virtues of Imam ‘Alī (A.S.).
