The last quarter of the twentieth century has seen a considerable and unexpected proliferation of cultist religious movements in the Western World. The aim of this article is to explain the development of these movements and analyze their outstanding features. The purpose of this study is to discover the reasons for their emergence in the Western World and, in turn, analyze their ingluence in these societies.
