U pon a brief explanation about Masjid-i G awharshad, the present article has dealt with Aivan-i Maqsura as the most important section of this mosque. At first, the architectural features of the mosque are dealt with and then the structural features of Aivan-i Maqsura are touched upon. Afte r that the Aivan's ornaments are reviewed and described, followed by an introduction of the inscriptions of the Aivan and its renowned under-dome chamber. In the end, a history of Aivan-i Maqsura and its development is given in respect to its construction and ornaments.
