The exegetical traditions have not all been at the same level and have different semantic aspects. Contemporary scholars have, through classification of these traditions, taken actions in removing their apparent contradictions and have considered a level of elucidation and explanation for the traditions issued by the Infallible Imam (A.S.). The infallible Imams (A.S.) have themselves pointed out to various levels of their traditions and asserted that as there are interiors for the Qur’ān, sometimes the exegetical traditions can also have interiors and various semantic levels that are expressed depending on the levels of the interiors of the Qur’ān, the addressee’s understanding, and the type of question. The present research has indicated that the Infallible Imams (A.S.) themselves have, in a general classification, divided the exegetical traditions into traditions of the interior interpretation and the exterior interpretation or esoteric interpretation (ta’wīl), and that in this view, the contradiction that exists in the exegetical traditions in this regard can be resolved.
