The pre se nt paper be gins with a definition of "culture ", "martyr" and "martyrdom"; Then, it touche s upon the history of martyrdom in Persian literature. Further on, some aspects of the martyrdom culture and the martyrs' fe ature s have be en outline d using poetry colle ctions publishe d afte r the Islamic Revolution.
Emphasis on "martyrdom-seeking" as being among the most essential motifs of poetry in post-Revolution era, as well as the emergence of Ashura culture in poetry collections comprise other issues in this article.
