This article addresses the lack of a flow-oriented and guidance-centered approach in conventional Qur’anic exegesis by proposing a model of flow-based interpretation grounded in the concept of Umm al-Kitāb. Employing a descriptive–analytical method with an intra-Qur’anic approach, the study demonstrates that verse 7 of Sūrat al-Fātiḥa, through its tripartite classification of humanity into those favored (al-munʿam ʿalayhim), those who incurred wrath (al-maghḍūb ʿalayhim), and those who went astray (al-ḍāllīn) in relation to the straight path, provides a comprehensive framework for human-theological flow analysis across the Qur’an. The findings indicate that the favored represent a continuous flow of guidance rooted in pure monotheism and the doctrine of kun fa-yakūn, whereas the latter two groups—identified respectively with disbelieving People of the Book and polytheists—constitute distinct yet interconnected manifestations of a broader flow of misguidance shaped by the doctrine of divine sonship and theological deviation. By adopting “flow” as the primary unit of analysis, flow-based interpretation not only differs from thematic and structural exegesis but also offers significant capacity for uncovering intellectual foundations of Qur’anic currents and deepening the semantic analysis of key terms such as al-Raḥmān, thereby opening new horizons for a systematic and guidance-oriented understanding of the Qur’an.
