In this paper, the writer intends to present a perspective of sincerity in the Qur'anic verses and traditions along with tender impressions in this respect by the poets, particularly by H afiz. First, he has reviewed the terminology of ikhlas (sincerity), various dimensions of this term, and its division into creed and action. O ther parts of this article include the re lation of ikhlas with Tawh id (Divine Unity) and freedom, as well as the outcomes of ikhlas, such as delight and pleasure. Such traits as prete ntiousne ss and imposture are regarded as opposite to ikhlas, an issue dealt with in the end of the article. All through the article, the writer has relevantly benefited from the findings of poets, particularly the mystical songs of Hafiz.
