The verses 16-19 of the blessed Sūrat al-Qiyāma are among the verses on the meaning of which the interpreters and researchers are greatly divided and different views have been expressed about them. Most of the interpreters have regarded these verses as parenthetical sentences about the Qur’an among the verses concerning the Resurrection Day. Some, however, have considered these verses to be related to the subject of Resurrection and an outline of the scene of the stations of the Resurrection. Although the interpreters and researchers have expressed reasons for all these views and sometimes have rejected the other view, it seems none of these views are well-documented despite their popularity and plurality of traditions, as they are not consistent with the external meaning, contexts, and some Qur’anic and hadith evidences. The writer believes the verses 16-19 of the blessed Sūrat al-Qiyāma are indeed recommendations to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) not to hasten in conveying the early 15 verses of the sūra before the completion of the sūra itself. In this article, first we state each of the widely known views and critique them and then state the new view and its explanations and evidences.
